CommentsCourse material is very dry and boring.AdviceHighly recommend not taking this course with Jason Treberg. Lectures are very boring and very hard to pay attention to. Lecture notes are not very helpful in the long run either. Very long final exam. |

Fall 2020 - Prof: Michael Shaw
CommentsThis course pretty much repeats Grade 12 Biology concepts and is super easy! I took this course online and at first I hated it because you have to read the online textbook and write your notes from it but once you get used to it, it's not that bad at all! There were 5 small quizzes that had 10 questions each, and 3 assignments and a final. The final was pretty easy.AdviceI can't stress enough when I say to use the recommended study guide. Because this is an online course, you can easily fall behind if you don't keep up with writing notes. If you need a science elective, take this course! Also a GPA booster |

Fall 2015 - Prof: Michael Shaw
CommentsTook online - I did NOT take Biology in highschool and had not taken any science courses since highschool 10 years prior. I found it very interesting and it definitely increased my interest in the subject! Rated 4 for ease as it was an online course and I had been out of school so long, it was a bit of a learning curve to keep up with teaching myself! Otherwise it was very doable and the exam was about what I expected - wish I could have done a midterm and then a final rather than just a final!AdviceUSE THE RECCOMMENDED STUDY GUIDE if you take it online!! I got a bit behind right off the hop and it was tough to catch up at first! Great foundation for BIOL 1410/1412 (and other Biol courses I'd imagine) of you didn't take Bio in HS or have been out of school for awhile! |

Fall 2015 - Prof: Katharine L. Blaschuk
CommentsCourse was overall good. The exam questions were from her lecture and once I finished reading the lectures I would do the multiple choice questions from the textbook which I found helpful. Final grade was A.AdviceTextbook was not used much. But if something is not clear from her lecture, read the book for greater understanding or ask the prof. Listen for her cues when she mentions exam, from time to time she would say if it's going to be on the exam, or if you need to memorize this and that. |

CommentsDefinitely take it with her it is basically a review of grade 12 bio and a little more. Also she gives lots of opportunity to boost marks (attendance, Iclickers, assignments) and exams were always multiple choiceAdviceAttendance is a must if you want the marks and she sometimes repeat questions in exams so make sure you pay attention. Might be boring but trust it is a great grade booster I got an A |

CommentsShes the ANCI Bio Prof; She's always making jokes which makes it easier to sit through. Majority of her exams are based on her slides.AdviceTo read the text if you didn't take hs biology for awhile. You can also rent one from the machray hall for two hours. Other than that it's a fairly easy course. |

Fall 2016 - Prof: Dr. Blaschuk
CommentsClass was very simple and easy if you attend all classes. She would provide old midterms from previous years to help you prepare for the midterms and final exam. Very nice and understanding prof!AdviceHer reviews at the beginning of each class almost takes up half the class time for new lecture material. The review is word for word of the previous lecture, she does not add anything to the review. |

Fall 2018 - Prof: Dr. John Markham
CommentsFantastic course, very similar to high school bio, goes a little more in depth with genetics and cellular respiration. Useful material, great intro class. Prof is passionate and keeps class interesting with great humor and lots of energy.AdviceMemorizing notes is pretty much mandatory, know the differences between mitosis and meiosis, cell resp. vs. photosynthesis, and the processes/stages within them. The textbook isn't really necessary as there's plenty of online resources in this field. |

CommentsNoneAdviceDon't take this course with Jason Treberg. I literally fell asleep early class because of how monotone his voice is. Exams are so long to. Did the course online too and I loved it, passed with a B+. |

Took this class online with Michael Shaw, it consisted of 3 assignments and like 5 biweekly quizzes. Was a really easy online class if you already took Biology in highschool! I took the final exam last week and it was extremely easy! Had questions that were in the practice exam and really easy questions like "What is protein made of?" LOL. Easy A!Advice
Just do the assignments well and you'll get an A.
